Teck Resources Donates to Canadian Red Cross Fort McMurray Wildfire Relief Efforts

Teck Resources Limited (TSX: TCK.A and TCK.B, NYSE: TCK) (“Teck”) announced that it will donate $75,000 to the Canadian Red Cross in support of emergency efforts concerning the wildfires in Northeastern Alberta. A further $25,000 will go to match donations made by Teck employees.

“Our thoughts are with all those impacted by the devastating wildfires in the Fort McMurray area,” said Don Lindsay, President and CEO. “Teck will continue to work with our partners in the region to identify opportunities where we can offer support during this incredibly difficult time.”

Teck’s donation to the Canadian Red Cross will be made through the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Energy Together: Fort McMurray Wildfire Relief initiative. Teck is a member of CAPP.

Sun Life Financial sets up hotline to help clients in Alberta; donates over $100,000

Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX: SLF) (NYSE: SLF) has set up a special hotline and process for its clients and employees who have been impacted by the destruction caused by wildfires in Fort McMurray, Alberta. In addition, Sun Life Financial will be providing a corporate donation of $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help residents who have been evacuated and have lost their homes, businesses, and livelihood. Additionally, employee and Sun Life advisor personal donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to an additional total corporate maximum of $25,000.

The devastating fires in Fort McMurray have had a significant impact on Sun Life Financial’s clients, employees, and advisors who live and work in the area. “We are deeply saddened by the news and our thoughts are with the tens of thousands of people who have been forced from their homes and communities,” said Kevin Dougherty, President, SLF Canada.

Sun Life Financial’s contribution to the Canadian Red Cross will come from the Sun Life Financial International Response Fund at the Canadian Red Cross, which enables support to be deployed rapidly to areas in need. These fires represent the largest evacuation in Alberta’s history and Red Cross teams are prepared to respond.

The Sun Life Financial International Response Fund, the first international corporate sponsorship of its kind, was established in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross in 2005 to help accelerate emergency response to large-scale international crises. Administered by the Canadian Red Cross, the Fund has helped provide immediate relief and resources to natural disasters and crises in Canada and around the world.

HSBC pledges $100,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross, accepting donations in branches for communities impacted by Alberta wildfires

To help support Alberta residents affected by the ongoing wildfires in Fort McMurray, Alberta, HSBC Bank Canada will offer financial relief options to impacted customers, and has pledged a $100,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross. HSBC will also accept customer donations for the Canadian Red Cross at all HSBC branches across Canada from 6 May to 6 June 2016.

Fairfax Donates $1 Million for Fort McMurray Disaster Relief

Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (TSX:FFH)(TSX:FFH.U), recognizing that the situation in Fort McMurray is the worst natural disaster in Canadian history, is increasing its initial $200,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to $1,000,000, exclusively for the services the Red Cross is providing for relief from that disaster.
